Norwich instructor can teach you to drive
Norwich-based Christian driving instructor Pete Elwick offers driving lessons with expert tuition in a fully dual-controlled Peugeot 206.
Pete, who attends Norwich Vineyard church and is a Development Worker with Norfolk County Council’s Early Years Childcare and Extended Schools Team East, is a self-employed Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
“I never forget that learning to drive involves a big commitment doing something very new. I aim to provide a safe, relaxed and patient environment in which to learn,” says Pete.
“I will ensure that you are equipped with all the skills needed to not only pass your practical and theory/hazard perception tests but also prepare you for safe driving throughout your motoring career.”
If you decide to learn to drive with Pete, you can be confident that you will get his 100% attention. He will collect you and drop you off from home, school, college, work, friends, hair appointments, youth clubs and the city, by arrangement and so long as reasonable distances are involved. Pete will not collect other pupils during your lesson and have them drive you back.
Here is what some of his pupils think of Pete and his tuition:
‘Pete, you’ve given me back my freedom’ - Tina, 38, Security Officer, Stratton Strawless
“He’s calm, relaxed and never shouts, I’ve already recommended him to my friends” – Peter, 17, Apprentice Carpenter, Lakenham
“Pete is friendly and quite patient. It is fun learning to drive with him.” – Hannah, 17, Student, Wreningham
"I have appreciated your flexibility in being able to work with me and it was really good to be able to pray on the morning of the test!" - Sarah, 41, Art Therapist (she passed)
Pete's Charges
£25.00 for the first two-hour initial assessment for novice customers
£30.00 for the first two-hour initial assessment for experienced customers
Pass Plus with Pete
Pete is registered to offer Pass Plus to pupils who have passed their practical driving test. He charges £150 to deliver the six-hour course.
Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years of passing their test due to a lack of driving experience - this is where Pass Plus comes in. The course aims to build upon your newly acquired driving skills and knowledge.
Designed by the Driving Standards Agency, with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry, Pass Plus will build upon your existing skills and knowledge, it will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, and can help you to become more confident on the roads
It includes six practical modules covering: driving in town; driving in all weathers; driving on rural roads; driving at night; driving on dual carriageways and driving on motorways.
Anyone who holds a full UK licence is eligible to take part in the scheme. You will not have to take a test at the end of the course but you will be continually assessed. You must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard.
Remember, a substantial premium discount is offered by participating insurance companies when you become the insurance policy holder for your car.

How long will it take to pass my test?
The Driving Standards Agency says that on average pupils need between 40 and 45 hours of instruction from an Approved Driving Instructor
In addition they recommend as much practice as possible in between lessons to be brought up to and beyond test pass standard
However this is an average. It may take you either a longer or a shorter time to be ready as you can only make progress at your own pace when it comes to learning new skills
Pete thinks that if you come to your lesson wanting to learn something new or want to improve how you use the controls or read the road then you will!
This helps you move from being dependent upon him for your information to becoming independent of him when making decisions about your driving
