Fundraising Fun at Craft and Hobbies Day
Witard Road Baptist Church hosted a Craft and Hobbies Day on Saturday 1 March to help raise funds for their church development programme.
The event featured hobbies and craft-related stalls, all of which had items provided for, manned and organised by people within the fellowship and their families. Event organiser, Marion Kelsall said, “It was fantastic to see the wealth of talent on display for everyone to enjoy”.
There were demonstrations of the potter’s wheel, painting, drawing, pergamano, beading, scrapbooking, cross-stitch and all to a backdrop of a variety of live musical entertainment throughout the day, again provided by members of the church. There was a team of ladies who valiantly beavered away in the kitchen for hours on end providing endless amounts of tea and coffee, hot snacks and other refreshments. One of the highlights of the day was the chance to see the variety of hobbies that folk have, including collections of everything from maps to dinky toy buses and rare artefacts of every description, together with a vast display of artwork, much of which was auctioned at the end to raise funds.
The day was well attended, fortunately the sun shone, and even those who were exhausted at the end from having put so much into organising, said that the day was well worth it, and that the fundraising has had a good boost.
