Are you going where God is calling you?

Liz 1wwwThere are many fulfilling ministries across the four churches of the URCN and a real need for more people to serve in these ministries. Liz Kam says: "This is about you! Are you going where God is calling you? Is it time for a rethink about your ministry or to try something new?"

First off we focuss on Jessopp Road and highlight ministries in which there is a need for more volunteers.

Liz says: "We are working on the premise that the more volunteers we have the less pressure everyone is under. So please don’t be put off by thinking that you don’t have much time to give. We are seeking people who may only be able to offer a few hours a month as well as people who can offer much more".

If you are interested in any of the opportunities set out below or just want to ask a few questions about any of them please contact Liz Kam:

Meeting point

What is it?
Parents drop their children into the local school and then come to Jessopp Road URC to the Playgroup with their younger children, but it doesn't start until 9:15, so we provide a place to shelter from the elements whilst they wait, and a chance to get to know them and their concerns, and for them to get to know us.

What would you need to do?
Be on a rota of people who put out the toys and prepare cups of tea and coffee, welcome the parents in and chat.

Where is it?
The parlour, Jessopp Road URC

When is it?
We are aiming to fill sessions from Monday to Thursday, 8:40 until 9:30.

Commitment we are looking for
You need to be able to give about 1 hour from 8:30 until 9:30 by the time you have cleared up etc. We would welcome offers of time from 1 session a month to something much more regular. You will also need to be committed to child protection and undertake a Criminal records bureaux (CRB) check.

Youth club www 2Commitment we are looking for
You will need to give about 2- 2 ½ hours on the club nights to ensure time for setting up and clearing away. We would welcome    offers of help from 1 session a month for an evening helper to something much more regular. Those who are willing could become involved in planning sessions and we would encourage you to take up training opportunities from informal courses through to more formally accredited courses if you so wished. You would need to be committed to child protection policies. This would involve an induction process to your role which may initially involve extra time to the youth group sessions and requires a Criminal Records Bureaux (CRB) check. and references.
