Norwich Christian musicians network hope

IanSextonA Norwich-based Christian worship and jazz guitarist is looking to connect up with local like-minded musicians to network together and also possibly form a group.

Ian Sexton is a worship musician from City Church in Norwich, who has been playing the guitar for ten years and has an interest in jazz.

“I would like to put together a website directory of local Christian musicians,” said Ian. “Personally I have been able to meet a number of jazz musicians but have found it difficult to locate Christian musicians in this genre. I think that such a website would be a really useful resource to help others network and build links between churches across the city and region.

“I play in the worship band at City Church on a weekly basis and have a deep passion for worship in Spirit and in truth. It is these two aspects of my life that I have a vision for bringing together: my desire is to use jazz as an instrument to worship the Lord and reaching the lost,” said Ian

“I'm looking for other Christian musicians interested in jazz to potentially be part of a small combo performing a mixture of jazz/Latin standards and arrangements of Christian songs. I really enjoy Latin jazz and my favourite composer is probably Jobim. Kenny Burrell is the guitarist that I listen to the most. I regularly play in a big band rehearsal band and this has developed my comping and reading skills though I still have a long way to go towards becoming fluent in reading notes at that speed.”
