Christian retreat house offers perfect location
Quiet Waters is a Christian Retreat House set in the unspoilt countryside of the Suffolk/Norfolk border. It is the perfect place to find rest, relaxation and renewal and offers comfortable accommodation for individuals or groups of up to 20. It also offers a series of special events.
The period house stands in two acres of picturesque gardens, which back onto the River Waveney. The fine market town of Bungay is within a one-mile walk, where there are bus services to places including Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Beccles. Southwold, Dunwich and the coast are some 14 miles drive away. Comfortable accommodation is available for up to 19 guests, but day groups of up to 20 are welcome. We can provide flexible catering arrangements to suit each guest, up to full board. Quiet Waters provides an opportunity for Christians to seek God in a quiet, peaceful and safe environment that allows freedom and space to experience God's love. Although there is plenty of space for quietness, Quiet Waters is not a silent retreat house, and guests enjoy fellowship and conversation over meals and in the communal lounges. The team has a confidential approach to individuals needs and is ready to help through prayer, worship, and led retreats or simply by listening.
Quiet Waters interdenominational charitable trust opened in 1973. The Georgian house has an informal, homely atmosphere in quiet countryside, yet near market and seaside towns. Guests can sit by the river and anglers may bring their rods.
We offer led-retreats if requested and also a 'listening ear' and prayer to those who would like this ministry. As well as offering peace and quiet for the individual, we are also ideal for groups, either for a day or a weekend. We have been used for church away days and by Alpha groups, leadership teams etc.
There are two sitting rooms and a dining room, where guests can enjoy meals prepared from freshly grown fruit and vegetables from the garden. Bedrooms are comfortably furnished with wash hand basins in most rooms, and tea/coffee making facilities provided. Two ground floor bedrooms are available with access for the less able, but there is no provision for personal care.
The chapel is available most of the day. Guests are invited to morning worship 9.30 to 10 a.m. each morning except Sunday, when team members attend their own church services. Communion is celebrated during Saturday morning worship.
