2008: A former corporate lawyer has been apointed as a new Lay Canon of Norwich Cathedral and also as a member of the Chapter, the governing body of the Cathedral.
The Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham James, has appointed Bryony Falkus, formerly a partner at Norwich law firm Mills and Reeve, specialising in corporate law. Bryony is currently Chairman of the Board of City College. She also has experience of community work in a voluntary capacity through the Prince's Trust in Norfolk.
The Dean of Norwich, the Very Revd Graham Smith said: “We are delighted to welcome Bryony to the Cathedral Foundation and look forward to her contribution to Cathedral life as a member of the Chapter.”
Lay Canons are a relatively new part of Cathedral life. The office is honorary and is offered to those who have made outstanding contributions to the life of the region and the work of the Church through the life of the Diocese and the Cathedral.
