Karen starts new era at All Saints in Norwich
This autumn has seen the start of a new era at All Saints' Centre in Norwich, following the retirement of Lilias Standage after 18 years as manager and the appointment of Karen Maidstone as her successor.
Alison Woodrow has also recently joined the team as an assistant to the manager.
All Saints Centre, situated opposite John Lewis, has been well on the map of Norwich city life for well over 25 years and continues to owe its existence to the generosity of its volunteers, users and friends. It provides a welcome facility for everyone and anyone in Norwich by serving the community in the name of Christ.
Facilities include a coffee bar, with an ever increasing range of home cooked dishes on the menu, a quiet sitting room cum meeting room for groups, toilets, traidcraft goods, Christian books and cards, a comfortable seating area, a lending library of Christian books and a small charity stall selling books and bric a brac.
Volunteers needed
Income from the coffee bar helps to fund the Centre's work but more is always required to make ends meet, and volunteers are needed to help Karen and the team. Areas of help include serving in the popular coffee bar, making or donating goods for sale, hosting a fund raising event and lending an ear to some of the visitors. Volunteers are also needed on a Sunday when the Centre offers a hot meal and a warm, relaxing place for those who find themselves alone or have nowhere else to go.
