Pauline appointed for Julian programme

2008: PaulineLovelockPauline Lovelock has been appointed by the Friends of Julian to work with schools and adult groups around Norfolk and Suffolk.

She will use art, music, dance and reflective storytelling to highlight the medieval world in which Julian of Norwich lived and her rich historical, spiritual and literary heritage.

Older children and adults will be offered a variety of ways to explore Julian's writings in their historical context and to reflect on the ongoing relevance of Julian's life and work.

As Learning Project Officer, Pauline will be involved with activities in St Julian's Church and joint ventures with Norwich Cathedral, Dragon Hall and the Castle Museum. Her wide-ranging experience of teaching children and students of all ages equips her to spread knowledge of the writings of Julian of Norwich in a vivid and engaging way.

Julian is an important Norwich figure whose words have endured through the centuries. Professor Brian Thorne, Chair of the Friends of Julian says, “Julian’s words speak to us with increasing urgency of a love that is more powerful than fear and despair. We are delighted that many more people will encounter Julian through Pauline’s work.”

At a recent reception, Professor Thorne paid tribute to Fr Martin and the parish of St John's and St Julian's for their invaluable work in preserving Julian's heritage and enabling the work of the Friends of Julian to progress. He also thanked the Heritage Lottery Fund for their grant which will finance the appointment for two years.
