Tributes paid to much loved Norwich priest

RoseTributeTributes have been paid to the much loved Rev Francis Hanley, Deacon of St George's Catholic Parish in Norwich, who died on November 22.

Deacon Francis was well known in and around the city and within the parish. He had special responsibility for the church and community of Our Lady, Mother of God in Thorpe St Andrew, which is one the churches within St George's parish.

Father Tony McSweeney, the Parish Priest paid this tribute: “Deacon Francis was a great support in all we do in the parish, and a tireless worker in looking after the sick and the housebound. His workload belied his 80 plus years and he leave a high gap in the pastoral care the parish offers. May he rest in peace."

Deacon Francis' Funeral Mass will be at St George's, Sprowston Rd, on Monday December 8, at 10am and Bishop Michael of the Catholic diocese of East Anglia will preside.
