Christian mission week in Norfolk schools

IntRtrgr82009: Up to 4000 young people in South Norfolk will be involved in a Christian mission week which will bring theatre, film, cage football, live music and rhythm and drumming workshops to schools across the area in February.

IntRgr8 youth worker Simeon Playford reports.

IntRgr8 schools Mission 2009 runs from February 8 – 15 when teams from Youth for Christ will work in several schools in South Norfolk and North Suffolk.

The teams will be taking assemblies and lessons and all the young people will have the chance to respond to the gospel at a Friday night event at the DC3 centre in Diss.

The teams

  • Crux Theatre (pictured above) will perform a hard-hitting 45 min play and take drama workshops.
  • Crux Media are a specialised media team who run Film School, a project that works with young people to make a film about their lives. The team also runs lessons that look at the impact of the media on young people today.
  • Nomad (pictured below) are a touring team that take a panna football cage around the cage setting it up in schools, market squares and churches. The team play a fast paced football game with young people and uses their football skills to develop a relationship with them. The team are all accredited football coaches and they are seen taking the cage to events all over the UK.
  • The Rhythm Project uses rhythm and drumming on every sort of drumming surface to connect with young people.

Nomad2smallThe schools involved are Archbishop Sancroft High School, Hartismere High School, Diss High School and Old Buckenham High School. Several churches in the area are involved in the mission and we are really praying God will use this mission to enable us to reach out to many young people.

Prayer Points

  • Please pray as we finalise lessons and assemblies with the schools. Some of the schools are really busy with exams and productions. It is hard to get confirmation on lessons when they are so busy so please pray that in this next week we will have all timetables finalised.
  • Please pray for the mission teams as they get ready to come to Norfolk, pray that they will have time to prepare their lessons well and be ready and refreshed as they come to Norfolk. Pray that their hosts would be blessed by having them to stay and in turn that the hosts would bless the team.
  • Please pray for finances. God has been so good in this area but we still need about £800 so please pray that all the money will come in before the mission starts. Thank God for his provision in this area.
  • Please pray for the Friday night event, which is when all the young people will get a chance to respond to the gospel. Pray that the event would be covered in the blessing and protection of God. Pray that the teams would have many good conversations with young people and pray we would see many salvations that night.
  • Please pray for the Intrgr8 team as we pull this event together and all the logistics. Pray that we would be well prepared and organised for the teams. Pray for the commissioning service on Sunday 8th.
  • Finally! Pray that this event would bring glory to God, that the schools would develop closer relationships with IntRgr8 and the local churches. Pray that the love of God would be shown to these schools during the week and that many young people would hear about his unfailing, all encompassing love.
