Norwich cathedral get major grant to mend roof

RCCathedralWebA gigantic repair job that started out two decades ago could finally be completed next year after Norwich's Roman Catholic Cathedral received a £72,000 grant to mend its roof.

St John's, which is the second largest Catholic cathedral in the UK, was awarded the cash by English Heritage through its Cathedral Grants Scheme with the Wolfson Foundation.

It was announced as part of a £2.6m payout to help towards the repair, upkeep and maintenance of 23 cathedrals around the country.

The cash for St John's will go towards the final stage of its roof releading programme, which will cost £179,000 and ensure the entire cathedral will have a secure and well-maintained roof.

It covers an area roughly the size of a football pitch and has been releaded in stages since the 1980s.

I was a little surprised at your heading
"Norwich Cathedral" !
Perhaps it would have read correctly if you had called it by it's correct name:-
St Johns Cathedral, Norwich.
Norwich Cathedral is the Anglican Cathedral who’s correct title is The Cathedral Church of The Holy and Undivided Trinity, Norwich.
So please do spend some time and get the correct titles
Roman Catholic = St Johns Cathedral
Anglican = Norwich Cathedral
We love them both!
Thank you.
