The young people, aged between 15 and 22, had the opportunity to speak to a crowd of hundreds for the very first time at a service held by Norwich-based Proclaimers Church, outlining what they would tell the world if they only had four minutes to do so.
The inspiration behind the innovative project is the hit song “4 Minutes” by Madonna and Justin Timberlake which features the lyric “only got 4 minutes to save the world”.
Senior Minister, Tom Rawls said: “It is so important that young people find their voice in today’s society, many people stereotype teenagers as people of few words or with little of substance today but these young people and many others like them are truly breaking the mould”
Last week the winner of the BBC’s popular series ‘The Speaker’, was decided but Proclaimers Church has been raising its own generation of orators for the next generation right here in Norwich.
“These young people were chosen because we believe they have something to say in their own unique way,” said Tom. “Each of them had guidance on how to prepare and structure their talks but what we’re really looking forward to seeing is each person putting their own stamp on their presentation.”
This latest scheme is part of the church’s ongoing commitment to empower future generations to find meaning and purpose and reach their full potential.
