Wakeman and star line-up at churches festival

RickWakeman2009: The Four Churches Festival will be returning to the Waveney Valley from 27-30 May and once again rock legend Rick Wakeman )pictured right) has teamed up with four local churches to present a star studded cast of musicians, comedians and actors.

Nicholas Parsons returns to chair a live version of Radio 4’s hit show Just A Minute and this year he will be joined by Charles Garland, Keith Skues and Christopher Strauli.

Rick Wakeman said: "It always gives me immense pleasure to perform in these ancient and unique buildings and I am really looking forward to working alongside the talented artists booked for this year’s event.  Working with the team from the local churches  also enables me to see how a few dedicated people ensure that these fabulous buildings are looked after for the benefit of everyone in the community."

The medieval churches of Scole, Brockdish, Billingford and Thorpe Abbots will also be providing the venue for performances by rock musician Gordon Giltrap and comedian Joe Goodman

Gordon is one of the U.K’s most respected guitarists and he was a smash hit when he performed at the festival in 2007.  His performances as 'The Guitar Man' have mesmerized and delighted audiences all over the world.  Joe Goodman's career as a comedian has spanned more than thirty years and he is without doubt in a league of his own when it comes to giving an audience 'the feel good' factor.

The Rev Trevor Riess, Priest in Charge of the Four Churches said: "The festival embodies the medieval ideal of churches as community centres; places where Christian worship takes place alongside a whole range of other activities that enhance the quality of peoples lives. We are all really looking forward to welcoming this year’s performers as well as the many hundreds of people who will be coming to see them."

Tickets are available from Scole Stores or contact David Case on 01379 668875, email : fourchurches@btinternet.com
