Triathlon challenge for Norfolk church group
2009: Downham Market’s Bradley Boyd (pictured right) has pushed his body to the limit in aid of a Champion Kids group run by a local Christian fellowship.
Bradley took part in the Mazda London Triathlon, being held at the Excel Centre on Saturday 1 August. The event involved a 750-metre swim, followed by a 20-kilometre bike ride and then a five-kilometre run.
Bradley, who has some experience of distance running but has never taken part in a triathlon before, was looking for people to sponsor him for participating in the event. All of the money raised will go towards Champion Kids, the club for children of primary school age run by Downham Market Christian Fellowship.
Bradley said: “My five-year-old, Jude, loves coming to Champion Kids – he looks forward to it all week. It is a fantastic club, and this my way of giving something back.”
Champion Kids takes place every Friday in term time, from 6.15 to 7.30pm. It is held at the Sovereign Centre, the home of the Christian Fellowship, which is on Sovereign Way, on Downham’s Trafalgar Industrial Estate. Activities include singing, dancing, games, competitions, quizzes and a biblically-based talk delivered in a fun way.
Anyone who would like to sponsor Bradley or find out more about Champion Kids can contact the Sovereign Centre on (01366) 384474/386787, or on email at dmcf@sovereigncentre.net.
