New principal as Open Academy ends first year
The Open Academy at Heartsease in Norwich has announced the name of a new Interim Principal, following the departure of Lindsay Knight who led the school during its first year.
The Academy, which is backed by the Bishop of Norwich and Christian businessman Graham Dacre, is on target to finish its new £20m buildings during the coming academic year
The Governors of the Open Academy have announced its principal Lindsay Knight has decided to move on from her post after having seen the Academy through its first year.
The Governors have expressed their thanks for her work in transforming the former Heartsease High School into the Open Academy and for her commitment to meeting the tight deadlines for delivery on day one last September.
Lindsay said: “It was a challenge to take on the transfer of the school into an Academy in some five months and I am pleased to have seen it through its first year. I now wish to move on to a new challenge and I wish the Academy all the best for the future.”
The new Interim principal will be Howard Lay, who will be joining the Academy in September and is currently headteacher at a school in Suffolk rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
Howard said: “I am thrilled to be working with such a committed team of staff who have such high aspirations for the students in their care.”
