Rocking on with Christians from South Africa
A group of nine Christians from Rock of Salvation Baptist Church in South Africa visited a Norwich church to experience life in the UK, including fish and chips on Cromer pier.
Last year a team from Norwich Central Baptist Church (NCBC) visited the church in Soweto through BMS (Baptist Missionary Society) World Mission. An invitation was extended for them to visit Norwich. While they were in the UK, the group visited London, seeing Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament and The Thames.
The team was also involved in a number of NCBC’s church activities and went in to local primary schools to speak to the children about the similarities and differences of our cultures. In one school assembly, the team got all the pupils and staff joining in singing “We are walking in the light of God.”
Ma Jonas - who had never flown before - said, "God is good - we never thought we would have an opportunity like this."
While they were in Norwich, the team stayed with church members and met at the church to share their meals. which made closeness and family.
Pastor Mark Fairweather-Tall said, “The visit was great as we were able to build on our relationship with the church that began so well with their welcome to us last year. It is inspiring to be able to worship with people from another culture and understand more of the richness of the diversity of God's kingdom.”
