Expanding Norwich church finds a bigger home

GatewayVineyardGateway Vineyard church in Norwich is celebrating its fourth birthday by moving home to a larger premises to accommodate a growing congregation.

On October 4 Gateway Vineyard celebrated its anniversary at its final Sunday meeting at the Fishergate Centre in Norwich.

It is moving home to the City Christian Centre in Nelson Street, recently vacated by City Church which is currently meeting at the Hollywood Cinema in Norwich, also due to an expanding congregation.

Since launching in October 2005, as a church plant from Norwich Vineyard, based in Thorpe St Andrew, Gateway has grown from an original team of nine adults to over 60 adults and 20 children.

Over the past four years, activities have included Alpha courses, small groups, community projects, live music events, praying for healing on the streets, parties and Sunday Services to name a few.

“When we started the church we were motivated by hearing that only 7% of Norwich attended church,” said Craig Deal, who leads the church with wife Hannah. “Our desire is to see many people encounter Jesus and experience the difference He can make in our lives and communities.

“When we started Sunday services at Fishergate in January 2007 there were 16 of us and it was a real step of trust that God had spoken. We’ve been amazed again and again by God’s provision and faithfulness to us. It’s not always been easy but certainly an adventure.

“We have been looking for a new venue for over a year,” said Craig. “Fishergate has been a wonderful provision but we have been feeling the limitations of space. We are delighted that we will now be moving to City Christian Centre on Nelson Street and we are very appreciative of the support of churches in Norwich who have been instrumental in making both these venues available to us.”

Gateway Vineyard’s first Sunday meeting at Nelson Street will be on October 11 and visitors are welcome to join them at 10am for breakfast or 10.30am for the service.

Good to hear the news of Norwich Vineyard church moving from St Edmund's, Fishergate. As a member of the World Trumpet Mission prayer altar that meets at Fishergate every Thursday, please pray with us that suitable use will be found for St Edmunds on Sundays so that it may continue to be a place of Christian worship, prayer and meetings.
It is wonderful to see this continued expansion in Bible-
Believing churches in Norwich.
