Boost for Norwich church's Christmas hampers
Proclaimers church community team have received a boost from Tesco for their social action work meeting the needs of local people in the Mile Cross area of Norwich.
The new Tesco Express store in Aylsham Road, Norwich, donated £500 towards the work of the church’s team whose work they admire and want to support.
Proclaimers Owen Morgan, said: “The donation was for our Community Team which works in the local community to help meet the needs of local people through regular visits in the Mile Cross Area, as well as helping to make the annual Summer Fair a success.
“We have decided that this donation will go towards our Christmas project of providing Christmas hampers to families in order to ease the financial pressures of Christmas. Many families turn to loan sharks and expensive loans to get through the festive season and it costs them dearly.
“Our Christmas Hamper project provides hampers for families across Norwich. This year we will also be providing rucksacks for homeless people, a survival kit to help them through the winter,” said Owen.
“Last year we were able to provide over 40 hampers and 10 rucksacks, this year, with the help of this donation, we can do many more.” www.proclaimers.com
