Norwich Christian project runs volunteer training
The East Norwich Youth Project (ENYP) is hosting a free course designed to help develop the skills of volunteers who are working with vulnerable and disadvantaged people.
Your Aim Your Gain is an 8 week course which aims to provide skills which are useful to the volunteers themselves but can also be transferred to the people they work with.
The course covers the following topics:
- Listening skills
- Relaxation
- Assertiveness
- Challenging unacceptable behaviour
- Handling aggression
- Working in a team
- Professionalism and professional boundaries
- Time management
- Goal setting and action planning
The course will be practical with an emphasis on activity, open discussion and learning from experience.
The course is free of charge and lasts from 9am-11a m every week over 8 weeks.
Dates are as follows:
January 19th & 26th, February 2nd, 9th & 23rd, March: 2nd, 9th & 16th The venue is to be confirmed but will be located in Norwich.
This event is hosted by ENYP and is run in partnership with Norfolk County Council's adult education services. It is open to anyone over the age of 19 who is involved in volunteering or is unemployed.
