Warm Norwich welcome for Indian minister

NickCollisonBy Graham Bunn

A church minister from India has shared a Norwich pulpit and invited a group from the city to visit and see his work back home in Tamil Nadu.

Rev DGA Thomas from Tuticorin, South India shared the Morning Service at Heartsease Methodist Church on Sunday December 6, following an invite from his friend Rev Nick Collison (pictured right).

Rev Thomas was impressed by the warm welcome he received, but not by the bitterly cold wind and rain scything down from the Norfolk skies, being only too aware that back home the temperature was a very pleasant 26°C

A visit to the Norfolk coast was the last straw and a pair of gloves just had to be added to his wardrobe.

As well as sharing worship, Nick and Tom were finalising the itinerary for a visit to India of a group from local churches to see first hand the wonderful work in churches, schools and medical centres that is progressing in Tamil Nadu

The group will have no need to pack fleece lined coats, hats nor gloves for the visit, however, as they will not be asked to stand on the Indian equivalent of Cromer Pier eating rain-soaked fish and chips.
