Salvation Army collects furniture for the needy

Salvation Army Charity ShopAnybody in the Norwich area can arrange for their unwanted furniture to be collected and donated to disadvantaged people through the Salvation Army's furniture project.

Profits from the project go entirely to supporting the community work of The Salvation Army in and around Norwich.

The Norwich Citadel runs a newly refurbished community store on Lower Goat Lane in Norwich city centre which stocks a good range of keenly-priced furniture, electrical goods, clothing and household goods. They welcome donations of these items directly in the store. They are open 10am to 4pm Monday – Friday; 10am to 3pm Saturday.

There is also a furniture warehouse for larger items located at Europa Way opposite County Hall. The warehouse is open from 9am - 1pm on Saturdays.

Anybody wishing to donate items of furniture should contact the store on (01603) 624103 to arrange collection. The project will collect furniture from within a 10 mile radius of Norwich city centre. Please note however that legislation by Trading Standards means that the Salvation Army are unable to collect some items, particularly upholstered goods without current fire resistant labelling and certain electrical goods.

The Salvation Army's motto 'With heart to God and hand to man' is taken literally when furniture and other household items are supplied free of charge or at very low cost to disadvantaged people who contact The Salvation Army or other local social agencies.
