Norwich Christian group leads Haiti aid efforts
Prompted by Network Norwich & Norfolk’s recent article about a newly built, unequipped hospital in Haiti, a local Christian-based group Recovery+ spent time last week sorting and packing medical supplies to go the hospital and are appealing for others to join their effort.
Recovery+ is a group of people of all ages and from all backgrounds, many are in recovery from drug and alcohol addictions. They are supported by Street Chaplain Carrie Sant and embrace Christian principles.
The charitable efforts of the group have been aided by Parcel Force which has agreed to deliver the supplies to Portsmouth free of charge. They intend to continue to collect items to send and anyone who would like to donate particularly out of date medical supplies, equipment, instruments and dressings, please contact Carrie by email at carrie62quinn@yahoo.com There is another container leaving Portsmouth on Friday February 19 .
Recovery+ aims to develop new friendships whilst using talents and spare time usefully to benefit the poor and the environment. Events are not exclusively for Christians or for those in recovery and members welcome anyone who would like to share in friendship use their talents in this way.
Other events planned by the group this spring include poetry, and art competitions
Poetry will be selected and printed in a booklet which will then be for sale. Art will be exhibited locally and sold. All proceeds will go to support children in developing countries.
Entries are invited from anyone who is interested in using their talents in this way. Please contact Carrie at carrie62quinn@yahoo.com to obtain entry forms.
