Website now available in 52 different languages

GenevaUNFlagsChristian community website Network Norwich & Norfolk is now ‘live’ in 52 languages including Finnish, French and Filipino and is believed to be one of the first local news sites in the country to offer such a translation facility.

The Google-powered translation tool was added to the popular website last week to cater for the growing non-English speaking population in Norfolk and also to make its content more widely available right across the world.

Website editor, Keith Morris, said: “We are always looking at how we can make our content more widely accessible and this new service from Google means that people right across the world can read the content in their own language simply at the click of a button.

“We have embedded the free translation tool on almost all of our pages using some simple HTML code.”

The foreign languages available are: Afrikaans, Albanian, Arabic, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Maltese, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Welsh, Yiddish.

All users have to do is visit almost any page on the website and select their language using the translation tool on the left-hand side of each page. The website will then automatically refresh and display in that language.
