Delirious historic single makes No 4 in charts
An online campaign to get Christian rock band Delirious? to the top of the music charts for Easter Sunday with its popular song HistoryMaker just missed its target, finishing up at Number 4.
Over 46,000 fans backed the online bid which raised for charity and was inspired by the fact that the power of social networking managed to put Rage Against The Machine at the top of the charts last Christmas.
Campaign organiser, Alistair Kent, said: "We may not have topped the charts, but because we had a go we ended up achieving something.
"If you aim for nothing, you'll always hit it, we actually aimed for the top and ended up with a new entry in the top four! We actually did great! The general consensus of opinion was that a number four position was 'amazing'."
Delirious? donated all their profits from the UK downloads to charity projects supported by CompassionArt - Creating Freedom from Poverty www.compassionart.tv.
Earlham Christian Centre pastor, Paddy Venner, said: “I think good Christian music needs some exposure – there are literally thousands of contemporary Christian artists out there who get no exposure in the UK but are household names elsewhere, so let’s give Delirious? a push and make some history.”
