Nick runs marathon for Christian orphanage
Nick Symeou ran the London Marathon last month for Morning Star Children’s Charity in Nepal, a charity set up by Norfolk Christians.
This was Nick’s 13th London Marathon and an incredible achievement, especially as just 48 hours before the race he was stuck in Hong Kong stranded due to the Iceland volcano ash cloud.
Wendy Bircham, who runs the orphanage said, "God answered our prayers and Nick was able to get a flight back to the UK just before the marathon.
Nick completed the full 26 gruelling miles in just in 4hrs 48min. Thank you to Nick and to everyone who sponsored Nick and for raising donations for Morning Star Children’s Charity."
The total money Nick raised will be announced later.
Urgent prayer request
Wendy Bircham has asks for urgent prayers for Nepal. She says, "For the past four days, the country has been brought to a standstill by Maoist protests which were initially peaceful but are getting more violent.
The Maoists are demanding that the government steps down or they will continue this protest indefinitely. Schools are closed; shops are closed except for between 6 - 8pm, and all vehicles off the roads. The Maoists have taken over people’s homes, schools and churches to house people they have brought in to protest from the villages. Daily talks between political parties are at stalemate and the Nepali people are suffering.
Please pray for the situation here, that a way forward for peace would be found, and for justice for the Nepali people who are suffering so much.
