Norwich church names champion at concert
2010: Oak Grove Chapel in Norwich has held its popular community concert featuring live music, stalls and recognition for local community champions.
The annual event, held in partnership with Catton Grove Primary School, is in its ninth year.
The weather was the hottest ever for a community concert, people came, ice creams were eaten and many cakes melted.
Live music from Jocelyn and Dirty Havana and stalls from many community organisations and Catton Grove helped make yet another great afternoon with people just enjoying time together according to organisers.
The Lord Mayor of Norwich, Councillor Tom Dylan, appeared on stage with Pudsey Bear to present the Oak Grove Trust Community Champions award for 2010.
This year’s award went to the amazing Mrs Chris Larke in recognition of all she has done over many years in this community that has made a significant difference to the lives of many families and children. Chris is one of the founders of the Catton Boredom Busters group that every holiday does some amazing activities for many children.
Raising money to finance this community concert is hard work in the current economic climate and if there are any businesses that would consider giving a contribution towards the cost of next year’s event, please contact Ian Savory at Oak Grove Chapel on 01603 403388, to chat about the aims of this community event and its benefits to the local community.
