Norfolk Christian Elly supports Lourdes trip
2010: YMCA Norfolk Youth and Community worker Elly Perrott is aiming to raise £18,000 to take a group of disabled Norfolk children on a pilgrimage to Lourdes next year and she is appealing for support for two fund-raising events.
Elly volunteers for the HCPT - the Pilgrimmage Trust - which is a children's charity which takes children with disabilities or social or emotional needs on a Pilgrimage holiday to Lourdes every Easter.
Elly said, "My link with the group started in 2005 when I became a helper and I have since taken on the role of Group Leader. This new role his been a huge challenge but I am fortunate to have a fantastic group of supporters and helpers who have always helped pull things together."
The Pilgrimage Trust has started to make arrangements for their 2011 Pilgrimage. The group, led Elly, needs to raise £18,000 for next year's trip. The 2010 trip was a huge success and took 5 children from the Nowich area on the holiday. The group hopes to take 8 children from the local area on the 2011 Pilgrimage holiday and they are appealing for local support.
The fundraising challenge kicks off with a 50/50 Concert at Sacred Heart's Catholic Church Hall in North Walsham on September 4. The concert will include music from some of Norfolk's most up and coming musicans and the music will range from jazz to some popular favorites. Tickets are £10 each and include a Ploughman's supper. The proceeds from this evening will be shared between the pilgrimmage group and Sacred Heart's Cambodia Fund.
For tickets and more information please call Elly on 01692 582703 OR Katie on 01263 577784.
There will also be a quiz night on the September 17 at The Narthex Hall at St John's Catholic Cathedral, Norwich from 7.30pm. You will be able to test your knowledge as well as enjoy your evening supper whilst raising money for the pilgrimmage. Tickets are £6 and quiz teams will be groups of 6.
