Big band concert returns to Yarmouth venue
The largest Salvation Army Band ever to be seen in Great Yarmouth is returning to the Hippodrome Circus on Friday October 29.
Over 70 musicians will fill the ring when the Norfolk and Anglia Fellowship Bands of the Salvation Army combine for a 'Best of Brass' concert which will include a Last Night of the Proms flag-waving finale.
David Woodrow, who leads the Norfolk band and Ray Todd, who is his opposite number for the Ipswich-based Anglia band, will share the conducting. The vocal soloists will be soprano Elayne Green from Diss and Norfolk band member Bram Bryant. The guest performer will be euphonium player Derick Kane, a member of the Salvation Army's International Staff Band. Tony Mallion, who helps to arrange the concerts, will also compere.
Tony said, "The reaction last autumn was tremendous. People loved the concert and we've had so many inquiries about staging another. The musicians love both the unique atmosphere and acoustics of the Hippodrome and were so keen to return. It will be a great night." The profits will be split between the East Coast Palliative Care Centre appeal and the Salvation Army's annual Christmas Toys and Tins appeal.
Tickets are just £7 for all seats and available from the Hippodrome Box Office on 01493-8844172 or online at www.hippodromecircus.co.uk
