Faith in the Bill event in East Norfolk

Graham-Cole2With ITV’s long running police drama The Bill coming to an end, one of the best loved characters is coming to Gorleston. Christian actor Graham Cole, who played PC Tony Stamp, is heading to Gorleston Pavilion on Sunday 17 October to chat about his career and the programme.

PC Stamp, who has his own fan club called The Stampers, appeared for almost 25 years. During that time the loyal and dependable officer and area car driver featured in many strong story lines, including a siege, and was even forced to appear naked after losing a bet!

Graham Cole (pictured right) started out as a Butlins Redcoat and appeared in seaside shows as a comedian and singer as well as many acting roles. On TV he’s appeared in Dr.Who, Only Fools and Horses and Noel’s House Party as well as being one of the longest serving members of The Bill, a role he originally landed because of his stage fighting ability .

His part was written out last November when the series changed its format and became a more gritty weekly drama. PC Stamp’s departure was a quiet one as he left Sun Hill to become a police driving instructor. In March it was announced the Bill was to be axed by ITV.

Graham Cole is a committed Christian and will talk about his faith as well as his career at Gorleston Pavilion in conversation with illusionist and comedian Steve Legge. ‘This is going to be a great night of entertainment. Fans of The Bill will love it but there’s also going to be a message to it as well’ said Tony Mallion from Gorleston’s Cliff Park Community Church which is organising the event.

Faith in the Bill is at Gorleston Pavilion on Sunday October 17th at 7.30
Tickets priced £5 are available now from the Pavilion box office on 01493-662832 or www.gorlestonpavilion.com

Graham and my lives crossed late 1980/early 90's. His two children attended my pre-school group in Bromley, Kent and sometimes they came to my house to play. His wife made my lounge curtains!!

Can you send this comment to Graham please? You can give him my e-mail address because I would love to be intouch with him and his family again. I definately will be going to hear him at Gorleston in October.
