Norfolk's Brook Bible school restarts this month
2010: Even Jesus needed to drink from the brook! Renamed The Brook last year, this weekly school based in Norwich is open to any and all who need spiritual refreshment, training, or who in any way need something to help them lift their heads.
Richard George (pictured right), Pastor of Cornerstone Church (Norwich) and Director of The Way of the Spirit explained, "Jesus said that his words were Spirit and life – and they still are! It is the Word and Spirit together that bring God’s life; as he created by these ‘two hands’ in the beginning so he continues to renew, revive and recreate in the same way today. These Fridays – open to any who are following Jesus - are life–giving and head-lifting!"
The Brook is now entering its sixth year and is open on a pay-as-you-go basis. It happens at New Hope Church, Martineau Lane, Norwich between 10am and 4pm, every Friday for 9 weeks each term. This term starts on Friday 22 October. People can just turn up, without booking or prior arrangement. It’s suggested that you take your own lunch. A cost of £10 per day is also suggested, but it is available even if individuals are unable to afford that.
Richard continued, "This anointed teaching will equip and train Christians of diverse backgrounds and experience. It is for those who are hungry not only for Bible teaching, but also for the moving of the Spirit in their lives. Be warned: you will not remain the same!"
Richard trained under Colin Urquhart and John McKay and spent five years teaching students at Kingdom Faith Bible College. He has a theology degree from King’s College, London, and travels extensively abroad raising up bible teachers. He leads the teaching at the Brook, and is assisted by other anointed staff. Often part of the day is spent interactively and even getting those who come onto their feet.
Local full-time School
The Way of the Spirit runs a full-time Bible college. The numbers have increased over the past four years to 14 this year. Students come from various places, including Rwanda, Kenya, Malaysia , Egypt and Norwich to be equipped to teach the Bible. There are four places still available for this year's training which commences on 12 October. Students from this course join the Brook on Friday mornings.
Graduating students are encouraged to go and put what they have received into practice – Sarah Watkins from Brundall (pictured right) went to Africa on two separate mission trips and her year into practice, speaking many times to leaders and Pastors there.
