Archbishop of York is set to visit Norwich
2010: The
Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, is to visit the
Norwich Diocese on
Thursday December 2, to formally open the
Open Academy at
Heartsease in Norwich, to attend a cathedral service and to meet clergy.
The Most Rev and Right Hon Dr John Sentamu will perform the official opening of the academy, which is co-sponsored by The Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Rev Graham James, and Christian businessman Graham Dacre, at midday.
He will also visit Pregnancy Choices in Norwich before attending Evensong at the Cathedral at 5.30pm. At 6.30pm there will be a private reception with members of the clergy during which Bishop Graham will 'interview' the Archbishop and receive questions from those invited.
The Bishop of Norwich said: "I am delighted to welcome the Archbishop to our Diocese. He is an excellent role model for us all - and especially for our young people. Dr Sentamu came to this country in 1974 following his expulsion from
Uganda by
Idi Amin. As the second most senior cleric in the country, he represents the inclusive nature and international character of the Church."
