Norfolk Christmas tree event in tenth year

Fakenham Xmas tree FestivalThe annual Christmas Tree Festival at Fakenham Parish Church attracted over 25,000 people last year. 2010 is the tenth anniversary year of the festival and the church hopes to raise a record amount of money for local and national charities.

The festival takes place from 2 - 9 December from 10am – 8pm each day when the church is lit up by 85 Christmas trees, each decorated for one of the 75 charities taking part.

Entrance is free but please bring a bag of coins so that you can donate money at your favourite charity tree(s). Charities range from national charities such as the British Heart Foundation to local schools and nurseries.

Throughout the festival refreshments are available, including reasonably priced lunches and teas using local produce and home made cakes and scones. Coach parties should book in advance and the church asks for a £25 deposit.

There is also a walk-through Festival Market selling many items for Christmas including Christmas cakes and cards.

There is ample parking in Fakenham and you may use the Tesco Store nearby which allows 3 hours of free parking. Just follow the AA signs as you come into the town.

Last year £23,000 was raised in loose change for charities and over £250,000 has been donated to charities taking part in the past nine years.
