Norfolk Street Partnership appeal for support
Norfolk Street Partnership is making a Christmas appeal to supporters to help them keep the vital service going into the new year as they face tight financial circumstances.
Every weekend teams of Street Volunteers are out on the night-time streets of Norfolk. Currently they go out in Norwich, Dereham, Great Yarmouth and Diss providing a helping hand to all those in need, with a team of Prayer Volunteers supporting the work behind the scenes.
The cost of keeping the volunteers on the streets is around £800 a week and more regular income is needed to ensure that they can carry on doing their vital work according to project chairman, Richard Pennington: “Small but regular donations are vital to put the finances of the project on a firmer foundation going forward,” said Richard. “Please help us by considering making a regular gift, no matter how small.”
The work of Norfolk Street Partnership has been praised by a number of high profile figures who have seen, at first hand, the important work they do with all people on the night-time streets, whether they are the homeless or night clubbers in need of assistance.
General Sir Richard Dannatt, ex head of the British Army said: "The street volunteers are doing a fantastic job."
Charles Barratt, High Sheriff of Norfolk, said: "The street volunteers really are 'the stars of the night'. It was a pleasure and a privilege to go out with them for an evening."
“The street volunteers know what friendship is and that is what they are offering in some of the busiest places which are also some of the loneliest,” said the Bishop of Norwich, The Rt Rev Graham James.
"They are an inspiration to everyone," said Norwich nightclubber, Jemma.
To keep this vital service going, the street volunteers need a helping hand from you. Please give what you are able to.
