Norfolk churches join together in revival prayer

AtomOver 20 Norfolk churches joined in simultaneous prayer for revival last week at meetings in Norwich and Great Yarmouth.
The Prayer for Revival event, on March 7 at the Ramada Hotel, Norwich, brought together more than 15 churches, Call to Prayer and at least 13 church leaders to pray that God moves in power and revival in all the churches in the city and region. Simultaneously, eight churches in Great Yarmouth met to pray in unison too.

Organiser, Phil Thorne minister at City Church, Norwich, said: “Both prayer gatherings were electric with the presence of God in both worship and prayer with many people testifying to how good it was for numerous churches to meet together and pray in unison across the region. The excitement continues to grow with many excited about what God wants to do and the joy of gathering together in prayer. The amazing sense of unity and honouring one another in partnership has been growing in momentum and the call to meet to pray together was overwhelming.”

Pastor Kingsley Armstrong, from Norwich Family Life Church, said: “It was so exciting to be in the midst of Christians from about 15 other churches in the city. God has promised that if we dwell together in unity that He will command the blessing and that is what I am believing for. There was a tangible buzz in the room and a building excitement that God is about to visit this city.

“We were from different churches but that made no difference to anyone. Each person came to meet with God and ask Him to visit us and each of our churches. I am so excited about the whole venture and determined that we will not let go of God until we see him revealed in Norwich.”

Jill Gower, director of Call to Prayer, said: “Revival is a process; God first revives His people, and on Monday night there was such a sense of Him doing just that as the people gathered with a greater sense of expectancy that this process had truly began. The walls of separation are coming down, and there is a real hunger and desire for His Kingdom to come in this area, and to see God breakthrough in power.”

Michelle Smith, of Wellspring Family Church Poringland, commented: “We were truly blessed by Monday evening, the unity amongst us, a sense of 'preferring one another' was so evident, together with a hunger and expectation for God to continue to build and do more.”

Phil Thorne has a vision to see Prayer for Revival meetings connected in purpose and relationship meeting simultaneously in strategic centres across Norfolk and beyond. Phil said: “I would be delighted to meet with church leaders south, west and north Norfolk who have a passion for revival and who would like to connect with Norwich and Gt Yarmouth to see the whole county praying in unison simultaneously for our region, all under the strap line, ‘Partnership without Ownership.’

“I would be delighted to hear from church leaders and ministries across the region that would like to partner with us in Prayer for Revival where they are, in our quest for the church to rise up in the power of the Holy Spirit.”
