The 200-strong crowd enjoyed two hours of worship songs at the Phatfish Unplugged event including familiar songs such as Amazing God, There is a Day and new tracks from the In Jesus album.

Phatfish is a family affair with lead vocallist Lou Fellingham, her husband Nathan on drums and his brother Luke on bass, Mike Sandeman on keyboard, Jos Wintermeyer and Ben Hall on guitar. The talented musicians captivated the crowd who worshipped to the lyrics which spoke Biblical truth. The songs varied from contemplative reflective songs to rousing rocky numbers which appealed to the diverse age and background of the audience.

Bev Cant, NCBC church secretary said, “I was delighted to see a good mix of people from across the age groups all praising God together.”

Lead singer Lou Fellingham introduced some of the songs in a personal way by telling the moving stories behind them and what prompted her to write them.

Phatfish gig4Youthworker at NCBC Paul Farmer said, “Lou is one of the best female Christian vocalists in the country at the moment and we are delighted that she and the band came to play in our church. The music was awesome!”

One person in the audience said, “It was great to hear a couple of old favourite hymns put to new tunes. I found myself reflecting on the words in a way that’s completely different to singing at church on a Sunday.”

Proceeds from the event were split between Hope HIV, a Christian charity working in Africa supported by Phatfish and an orphanage in Bulgaria that NCBC members have been involved with for a number of years through Christian charity Saltmine.
