All Saints’ Centre in Norwich held a fund raising event “Dinner with ((reprise!))”, on Saturday March 12 in the Centre in Westlegate. Nearly sixty diners were welcomed with hot punch followed by a three course dinner before being treated to entertainment from the local, and very talented, group ((reprise!)) who presented ‘Songs from the World of Musical Theatre’.
Coffee and mints were served during the interval when guests were invited to participate in a charity raffle for prizes including an aerobatics flight, a family portrait from Phil Scott Photography and vouchers for the Theatre Royal and Charisma.
Apart from income from its popular coffee bar, All Saints’ relies entirely on donations and fundraising to continue its work as a centre of Christian hospitality for all, in the heart of the city, and organising a dinner party was a new venture for the team of volunteers who masterminded the event.
The Centre looked very inviting with candle-lit tables and the guests, who were seated both in the body of the church and in the upper room, were waited on by a team of volunteer waitresses.
Generous donations of food and equipment, a volunteer chef and a wide range of help from groups and individuals enabled the evening to raise £1,266, and a subsequent anonymous donation of £250 means that the cost of recent, and essential, electrical work and kitchen repairs has been fully covered.
