North Norfolk church celebrates 200 years
Members of Neatishead Baptist Church are celebrating the church's 200 anniversary year with a series of events which included the unveiling of a plaque on Easter sunday.
At the end of the morning service on a beautifully sunny Easter Sunday, the slate plaque - crafted by a Norwich stonemason - was unveiled.
Minister of Neatishead Baptist Church Rev Sue Seeley said, "Rather than having just one big event for our 200th Anniversary, we decided to have a year of different events...and the commissioning and erection of this plaque is just one of them."
The main anniversary outreach event is on Saturday June 11 at 7pm in the New Victory Hall, Neatishead. A group of musicians and storytellers from the Northumbria Community, led by Rev Roy Searle - a friend of the church - will retell the story of the spread of the gospel in East Anglia by some of the local saints.
On Saturday July 16 those with past connections to the church are invited to a tea. Local churches and members of the community and visitors from further afield will be welcomed to the Sunday service on July 17 and to enjoy the anniversary displays from 2 - 5pm.
The final big event is the Harvest Festival on Sunday October 2 when the President of the Baptist Union Rev Pat Took will speak in the morning service and at Harvest songs of Praise at 3pm.
