Norfolk church hosts sculpture trail climax

Mystery PlayThere is a new Biblical ending to an established South Norfolk heritage and arts event with a Mystery Play set to provide the climax to the popular Bergh Apton Sculpture Trail.  

View over 200 contemporary sculptures, watch demonstrations of skills that were used to buld Mediaeval churches, listen to live music, and take part in a Mystery Play - all in 14 private gardens, the church and public spaces in Bergh Apton village.

The Sculpture Trail is entitled The Journey on 21, 22 & 28, 29 May and 4 & 5 June 2011.

The Journey will celebrate the creation and building of a Mediaeval Church. Part of Bergh Apton Church of Saints Peter and Paul dates back to these times.

There will be displays, workshops and demonstrations of the heritage skills used in the building of a church and visitors can get involved with these.

hugh luptonThe trail will close with a contemporary mystery play in which Bishop Graham James will play a key role. he play is entitled A Mighty Water - Noah's Ark retold. The play is a contemporary version of the Bible story and will be narrated by renowned storyteller, Hugh Lupton [pictured right], and performed by the village.

There will be three performances taking place on at 5.15pm on Saturdays 21 May & 28 May & 6.30pm Sunday 5 June at Bergh Apton church of Sts Peter & Paul.

The trail is open from 10.30am - 6pm each day. Trail entry is £10 and under 16s go free. The trail is raising funds for the church and other causes.


Bergh Apton is located 8 miles South east of Norwich take the A146 to Beccles and follow signs via Thurton. Saturday 21 May & Sunday 22 May
