Christian dance group run Norfolk sessions

ElevateA Christian dance company will be bringing dance clubs and lessons to South Norfolk schools and youth groups for a week in June. Their visit will culminate in a performance on June 11 in Diss.

 


 


Diss based charity Integrate Youth for Christ is bringing the Elevate Dance Company to work for a week in high schools in the South Norfolk and North Suffolk areas. 

 

Elevate will be running lessons and clubs in Old Buckenham, Diss, Hartismere, Long Stratton and Archbishop Sancroft High Schools, as well as working with some local youth groups.

 

The week will culminate in a performance by the company at 7pm on Saturday June 11 at Diss High School. The event is suitable for everyone - tickets are £5 for adults with under 18s free, under 12s must be accompanied by an adult.

The Elevate Dance Company is formed by apprentices of Springs Dance Company (SDC), Europe’s foremost professional Christian dance company. Springs Dance Company launched its apprenticeship scheme in 2002. This course breaks new ground as the first of its kind, offering twelve dancers each year the chance to learn from SDC’s extensive experience in the Christian dance field.

 

Elevate danceIntegrate YFC is a Christian based charity committed to taking the good news relevantly to rural youth in South Norfolk and North Suffolk. Working with local churches, schools, youth groups and youth organisations they run regular ‘More2Life’ lunchtime clubs in schools, village based youth café and summer camps. More information on Integrate YFC can be found on their website www.integrateyfc.org.

 

Former Diss High School pupil and Norfolk Dance Association Scholar Eliza Richardson has been a member of the apprenticeship scheme for the past year and will be dancing with the Elevate Company. Eliza studied dance at the Gissing based Hegarty School of Dance. Following the apprenticeship she will be taking a BA Hons in Dance Theatre at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
