Mid Norfolk church offers theology sessions

Chris PembertonA mid-Norfolk church is holding a teaching session on Saturday June 25 on the resurrection and ascension by theologian Chris Pemberton.

The session is part of The Well Christian Centre's  'Treasures of Theology' series; a monthly gathering of exploration with a mixture of upfront teaching and group discussion.

Jesus: Resurrection and Ascension

If the story of Jesus' birth startles, if his teachings challenge, if his miracles amaze, his resurrection astounds.

Lenin is still in his mausoleum, You can still visit Abraham's grave, The Buddha is still in his tomb is in Kusinagara, Elijah is believed to have by - passed death by being taken up into heaven by a whirlwind. But only of Jesus is it claimed that he went through death and out the other side. On the Day of Pentecost Peter said 'God has raised this Jesus to life' and from that day to this, the resurrection and ascension of Jesus have been the spearhead of the Christian faith. From both events flow many meanings and the session on June 25 will look at some of these.

Chris Pemberton is Training Director of the New Wine Training PartnershipDigging Deeper and on the faculty of the Westminster Theological Centre. From 1998 to 2009 he was the vicar of St Mary Bredin in Canterbury. Before that he worked as a university chaplain and taught part time at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford
