Transforming Norwich has key role to play

MadelineLight400Transforming Norwich is widely seen as an umbrella organisation and a means of communication with the church in Norwich, reports chair Rev Madeline Light in the organisation’s just-released annual report.
A number of initiatives have launched with the backing of Transforming Norwich and continue to go from strength to strength, said Madeline (pictured above), who also addressed the AGM on June 10 at the Octagan at St Peter Mancroft.

Celebrate Norwich & Norfolk is now operating independently but is still supported. Norwich Foodbank is expanding rapidly and Call to Prayer has expanded the way in which it serves the churches by establishing a House of Prayer. Network Norwich & Norfolk continues to do what its title suggests, keeping us in touch with each other in a unique and expert way, made possible by technology.

“The organisers of the new Prayer for Revival event want to partner with as many Christians as possible and so, at the outset, linked with Transforming Norwich. In a similar way both Surrey Chapel, with the King James Bible marathon, and the More Than Gold organisers contacted Transforming Norwich when arranging events in the city, as a way of engaging with as many churches as possible as efficiently as possible,” said Madeline.

All these express the Transforming Norwich vision and values that have been reworked this year.

The vision is: “To unite Christians to serve the community through prayer and action.

The values are: “To seek to express the Kingdom values such as – Unity, Justice and Love.

“There is so much we can do, so many opportunities. Jonathan Oleyede exhorted us to seek God and be active. We shall continue to try to do both in the coming year,” said Madeline.

The whole Transforming Norwich executive team have been relected for a second year, apart from John Dubbey and Biddy Collyer, who have stepped down. The executive will co-opt people to fill the vacancies.
