Trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit
As the Christian church recently celebrated the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Revd Philip Young gives some words of encouragement to trust our God.

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, will you dare to walk into God’s future, trusting him to be your guide?
All By the Spirit’s power, we will.
Will you dare to embrace each other and grow together in love?
All We will.
Will you dare to share your riches in common and minister to each other in need?
Will you dare to share your riches in common and minister to each other in need?
All We will.
Will you dare to pray for each other until your hearts beat with the longings of God?
Will you dare to pray for each other until your hearts beat with the longings of God?
All We will.
Will you dare to carry the light of Christ into the world’s dark places?
All We will.

 These are the words the Church of England has suggested for use at Pentecost and I think they are worth sharing with other Christians.
I think we are a little afraid to trust the Spirit because wind and fire are very unpredictable and we like to know where we are, and where we are going.
However, as Christians, we put our trust in a God who is the God of the past, the present, and the future, and it is good to trust him in a radical way.
‘Will you dare to walk into God’s future trusting him to be your guide?’
Can I encourage you to use the words above and to boldly put your trust in God until ‘your hearts beat with the longings of God?’
When we step out in faith and trust God then we are set free from fear about the future. We can live adventurously.
