New vicar welcomed to South Norfolk church

WilliamStewartA new vicar has been welcomed at the Anglican Holy Trinity Church in Loddon, South Norfolk.

The Rev William Stewart, pictured with the Bishop of Norwich, has taken the place of Nigel Evans, who left in September last year. He comes from Northern Ireland and worked in the Republic of Ireland for 30 years.

He was inducted, installed and licensed on June 16 by the Rt Rev Graham James.

He has been joined in the Chet Valley benefice by his wife Ruth and their youngest daughter Emily.

“I am looking forward to being part of a community. That’s an aspect of life that’s endangered these days,” he said. “I very much like to engage whenever there are good things happening in the area and I would like us, as a church, to take part. It’s an exciting time for me now and the Chet Valley churches will be on the map in the next few months.”
