Norfolk call to prayer issued as rioting spreads

PrayerCrowdA call went out for Christians in Norwich to gather for an emergency prayer meeting in the city last night in response to the riots and violence being seen in cities across the country.

Jill Gower, director of Norfolk Call to Prayer, issued a call to arms: “Due to the terrible situation in our nation with the rioting, we called an emergency prayer meeting at the House of Prayer. We had a really good prayer meeting and it was great to stand together and seek God at this time, and know He is in control of all things."

Annabel Valentine, from Norfolk Call to Prayer, said: “The meeting is open to anyone and everyone who would like to gather with others to cry out to God for our nation at this shocking time of violence and destruction.  We will be lifting up the name of Jesus over our cities and speaking His peace and love into every situation where the enemy is creating havoc.

“As well as whatever else God puts on our hearts, we will be praying for the police, the government, all in positions of authority and for the rioters themselves and all whose lives have been affected.

“We believe that as we pray together and ask for God's mercy on our land, we release His love and power into these situations to bring people to their senses, and open the way further for a major move of God to touch our young people, and indeed our nation.”
