Carnival win for Sheringham churches together
Sheringham Churches Together entered a pirate ship in the town's carnival parade last Sunday August 7 and were delighted to take first prize in the youth category.
The parade was the long-awaited high point of nine days of carnival fun and thousands of spectators lined the streets.
This is the first year that Sheringham Churches Together entered a float, and they were not the only pirates to be spotted, as plenty of people were dressed as pirates to reflect the carnival's theme of the sea.
The group harnessed the combined power of prayer and mechanical expertise to start the engine of their van, just in time for their group to join the parade.
The float contained about 12 children in pirate fancy-dress, with about 12 adult pirates handing out sweets and stickers.
Remarkably, the rain stayed away throughout - despite brooding clouds passing over and around the town at regular intervals.
