Opportunity for Norfolk Bible training course
The Norfolk Bible training programme ‘The Way of the Spirit’ has completed another successful year and looks forward to the new intake of students in September, with spaces available to local people.
Fourteen participants, from as far afield as Malaysia and Rwanda, spent the last year at Quiet Waters retreat house in Bungay, after a generous invitation to use the house. Four of the students had returned for a second year. Brimming over with a new found confidence in God, tutors said many were unrecognisable at the end of the year from the people that arrived last September.
Under the banner of ‘The Way of the Spirit’, this course - officially, the Prophetic Teachers Full-time Diploma - seeks to help people understand the Bible and the way of God’s Spirit in it. Course director Richard George said, “Whether called to preach, teach or just get alongside others with encouragement, we can all hear God in the bible and reach out to others with it. An important scripture to this ministry is that heart-cry of the prophet Hosea: For lack of knowledge my people perish Hosea 4.6”
The Way of the Spirit is currently reaching out with the word of God in a number of countries: Rwanda, Kenya, Korea, Japan, and India to name some. Some of those trained in Norwich have already found themselves travelling to places they never dreamed of going to.
The course will be moving back closer to Norwich next year, and applications can now be made to The Way of the Spirit for places on this course, starting at the end of September. Richard said, ‘We’d love local people as well to join in– and this year we will be making it possible for people to come and do certain aspects of the training if they can’t commit to a full–time college. There will modules which can be done with only a few hours to spare a week.’
Testimonies from last year’s students:
- I’m unrecognisable from the person who arrived here 9 months ago! The depth of teaching is phenomenal. I am aware of their passionate commitment to ensure we each reach our full potential and are released into our respective calls and ministries. …The opening up and revelation of God’s plan through his word has been amazing – the penny suddenly dropped and we’ve taken hold of what has previously been hidden. There’s been so much joy and laughter here – and some tears at times – but encouragement and unity all the way. We’ve all been transformed by the word, you can see it on our faces. Chris, 2011.
- God has revealed in a deeper way his heart as Father. His love, gentleness patience and kindness to me has been evident, and this has brought me into a deeper and more intimate relationship with him as God the Father. Yew Meng Ong (Malaysia) 2011.
- My confidence has broken through into a new sphere… Joyce 2009-11.
