Wembley prayer call issued to Norfolk Christians
A call has been issued to Christian leaders across Norfolk to unite and join in a national prayer event to be held at Wembley Stadium on September 17 in preparation for the London Olympics.
Annabel Valentine, from Norfolk-based Call to Prayer, said: “When he came to Norwich in February 2011, Jonathan Oloyede, who heads up the Global Day of Prayer in London, spoke of plans for a meeting of leaders at Wembley Stadium in September.
“The vision is for leaders to unite in preparing the way for a massive gathering in the stadium of Christians from all over the nation in September 2012. Carry the Torch will be an historic opportunity for the church in the United Kingdom.”
On Saturday September 17, over 1,000 leaders from every denomination, stream and sector of society will converge on Wembley, meeting in the Grand Hall to unite and pray for our nation in the run-up to the Olympics.
In response to this inspiring initiative, Call to Prayer is booking a coach for the event. The cost is likely to be between £10 and £20, depending on numbers. Please contact admin@call2prayer.co.uk or ring the House of Prayer, 01603 920074, if you would like to book a place on the coach, which will depart from a central location in Norwich and will also pick up just beyond Attleborough on the A11.
