Focus on football league at Norwich church
 Football was the focus at The Salvation Army in Norwich, when Mike Culwick and Tim Stapleford from the Norfolk Christian Football League (NCFL) spoke about their voluntary work with youth groups in local communities.
Mike and Tim helped to launch the Christian Youth Football League in 1995, with four under-12 teams. Now – 16 years later - the new season kicks off with 45 youth teams registered across five age groups.
The League has made a positive contribution to community initiatives for girls, boys and young men who enjoy football in their free time.
The NFCL believes that football can make a big difference to the quality of life for local families and communities, and is committed to developing this in Norwich and Norfolk. Mike spoke about how he has been a part of the 'Heartsease Forum' community programme over the last few years - with considerable  highs and lows - and how his Christian beliefs have played a part in developing this work and his own vision for taking things further in this area of the city. Tim spoke about his work using football programmes in the Chapelfield, Vauxhall Street and Bignold areas of the city in the last two years. He showed how the Christian Football League's declared vision embraces the work of Christian agencies such as Redeeming Our Communities and how the shared network organisation of after school activities such as 'football on the rec.' and a ROC cafe in the local community centre can make a big difference to the quality of life for local families.
