Old testament feasts celebrated in Norwich
Call to Prayer invites you to the Norwich House of Prayer to enjoy food and teaching at three autumn festivals ordained by God – the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles.
You may be puzzled as to why we, as Christians in the 21st century, would wish to do so since they are Old Testament and we are now under the New Covenant. The teaching by Jill Gower will help us discover the prophetic significance of each festival, all of which Jesus and His disciples would have celebrated, and how the mysteries contained within them point to the second coming of Jesus.
Their relevance to us in these days will become clear as we see how the traditions of each of the feasts - which are known as appointed times - fit in with scripture, the words of Jesus and the apocalyptic books referring to the last days.
- Thursday 29 September 7pm: Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah - the start of the New Year in the Jewish calendar). Teaching and buffet supper £10.
- Saturday 8 October 10.30am: Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur - day of prayer and fasting). Teaching followed by prayer. An offering will be taken.
- Thursday 13 October 7pm: Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot - joyful harvest celebration and remembering 40 years in the desert). Teaching and two-course meal £12.50.
Please send cheques payable to CALL TO PRAYER, addressed to Colin Bain, Hon Treasurer, at the House of Prayer, Fishergate, Norwich NR3 1SE including your contact details and any dietary requirements.
