Norfolk churches host charity film screening

Julie ChristieOnly one film has ever had its Royal Premier in Norwich. On Friday 7th October 2011, the Norfolk Churches Trust celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the release of The Go Between with a gala charity screening.

Forty years ago, a film set entirely in Norfolk received its Royal premier in Norwich in the presence of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mother.

That film was The Go Between, starring Julie Christie [pictured], Alan Bates and a young Dominic Guard as the Go Between himself.

The film went on to win 4 BAFTAs and the coveted Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film festival. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the film’s release, the Norfolk Churches Trust, whose founder, Lady Harrod acted as an advisor to the film, are holding a charity gala screening at Hollywood Cinema, Anglia Square on Friday 7th October.

Many of those who had parts in the film will be attending including Dominic Guard. Also attending will be Roger Lloyd-Pack who played Trigger in Only Fools and Horses.

The evening starts at 6.30pm with an introduction and recollection by members of the original cast.

All proceeds from the event will go to protect and restore Norfolk’s churches. Tickets cost £25 each.
